Cat

Common cultural wisdom tells us that while you can own a dog, a cat owns you. For some reason the neighbor's cat has adopted me, at least in the evenings.

CAT
I have a cat
who joins me when I retire
to the backyard in the evening
slinking from the neighbor's house
(where he's fed and sleeps)
across the lawn
to rub against my leg
and watch with me
the evening.
