Ignorance
Poem Posted August 25, 2006 by James E. Nelson
We received 6" of rain in the first three weeks of August. As a result many of the mornings have been foggy. I've started several fog poems in the last couple of weeks, but this is the only one that has come together.

IGNORANCE
Like fog, it's beautiful
its manner of softening the edges of reality
its habit of misting into oblivion the more distant the gaze is cast
its comfortable closeness
if one becomes accustomed to
its clammy death-like chill
its wrapping everything outside
its leaving one in the mystery of silence.
