The Reimonenqs house. This is the house where we laid the flooring. Unloading supplies from Ben's truck.
Brenda Sweeping the floor Jeff with the jamb saw
Brenda is prepping the floor for plastic underlayment. Jeff is making space for the flooring underneath the door frame with a jamb saw.
Penny prepping hallway The hallway is nearly completed
Penny doing a final sweep before plastic is laid. The hallway, before and after.
Seniorita Reimonenq Shelby Reimonenq
Seniorita Reimonenq giving Ben a heads up. Shelby Reimonenq telling us about his painting business.
Flooded job site 1 Flooded job site 2
The job site looks different under water! The power pole where we got our electricity can be seen in the distance. Don't let the long grass fool you. The pole is in several inches of water.
Flooded job site 3 Flood pants
The water's so deep even the planks we initially used for a bridge are floating away. Jim lays his pants out to dry. You can see how deep the water was that we had wade through at the 4th house.
Raw materials Hanging doors
Eventually most of the finish lumber will be nailed to the walls. Jim and Jeff putting the trim around the front door.
Edging Window Sills 1 Edging Window Sills 2
Edging the window sills. Getting a rough board all lined up to be edged.
Habitat Sign Building Permit
The typical sign found in front of every Habitat for Humanity house. The house behind the sign is not the Reimonenq's house, but rather the place next door, where the storm damage has not been completely cleaned up. A St. Tammany Parish building permit, designed so the inspector can quickly see what has and hasn't been done.
