"Dundee" (the hymn tune associated with this psalm) is one of the classic Presbyterian hymn tunes and so I felt like I had to include it. But Dundee is a nonmetrical tune that works great if one sings with an organ or thinks Gregorian chant. The tune poses some serious problems for the guitar player. I therefore altered the tune to an 8/8 meter. I'm sure you'll recognize it as Dundee, but it is not the one you might expect to hear at corporate worship. I TO THE HILLS WILL LIFT MY EYES Psalm 121, The Psalter, 1912, alt. 1988 Dundee (CM), Scottish Psalter, 1615, alt. 2004 I to the hills will lift my eyes; From whence shall come my aid? My help is from the Lord alone, Who heaven and earth has made. God will not let your foot be moved, Your Guardian never sleeps; God's watchful and unslumbering care Protects and safely keeps. Your faithful keeper is the Lord, Your shelter and your shade; 'Neath sun or moon, by day or night, You shall not be afraid. From evil God will keep you safe, Provide for all you need; Your going out, your coming in, God will forever lead.
